GREEN COVE COUGARS SWAMP LAKESIDE GATORS TO OPEN THE 2019 SEASON

The Green Cove Cougars (1-0) defeated the Lakeside Gators 38-0 (0-1) to open the 2019 football season. The Cougars led by one of the area's best athletes in QB/S Jayden Jenkins clawed up the Gators 38-0. Jenkins had another big game with two rushing TDs and also threw a 50yd TD strike to ATH Peyton Dykas. The offensive line played huge and dominated the Gators up front as they rushed for 4 TDS with the big man Garrison Butler registering 2 of them.

The Cougars' defensive was just as impressive shutting out the Gators.

Gage Isbell was virtually unblockable as he logged 4 tackles and 2 sacks to help stifle, and keep the Gators' offense in the swamp. Butler and Isbell's relentless efforts in getting after ball carriers, and the quarterback allowed their DBs to feast on errant, and off target passes.

Jenkins, Dykas, and Joseph Forte, each had an interception to help assist in the shut out.

The Cougars will travel to face the (0-1) Wilkinson Eagles who will be looking to get things turned around after being stung by the (1-0) Oakleaf Yellow Jackets 18-0. The Jackets will host Lakeside. Both Oakleaf, and Green Cove should win their contest big and start the season 2-0.
