Cedar Creek Eagles Soar In Epic Battle vs Hilliard Flashes To Open The Season

On Tuesday the Cedar Creek Saints traveled to Nassau Co. to face the Hilliard Flashes to open the 2019 middle school football season. Both teams would keep the score board lit, and give their fans plenty to cheer for as the combined final score would be 76 points.

The Flashes would drive the ball 65yds take the early 6-0 on their 1st possession. On Cedar Creek's ensuing possession Ath Darnell Rogers would pop an 80yd Td run to tie the game at 6 a piece.


Flashes' Ath Preston O'Quinn would haul in a short Td reception, and the Flashes would retake the lead 14-6 after converting the 2pt try. Saints Ath J. Miller would answer the bell with a 70yd kick return for a TD. Rogers would be successful on the 2pt try and the game would be tied again at 14 with 5:57 to play in the 2nd frame.


After a defensive stop Rogers would again show the speed as he popped a 70yd TD run to give Cedar Creek the 20-14 lead with 4:00 to play in the half. The Saints would begin to pull away as Rogers housed a punt return 65yds to give the Saints a 26-14 lead. The Flashes would find the end zone once more before half as Ayden Crews hooked up with Brent Leung on a 30yd Td to cut the Saints lead. After a successful 2pt try the Saints would lead it 26-22 at halftime.


DARNELL ROGERS TD RUN




In the 3rd frame the Flashes' stands would erupt in joy as Ayden Crews toss an 11yd TD pass to Jacob Hoover and Hilliard would once again have the lead 28-26. The Saints wouldn't fret as their deadly duo would again deliver in the form of a 60yd td pass from Rogers to Miller to retake the lead at 32-28.

Rogers would continue to stake claim on the 2019 DreamKingFilmz Top 100 list with back to back interceptions to deny the Flashes scoring opprotunties.


The Saints would go ahead by 2 scores for the 2nd time as Miller sprinted 40yds to the end zone and a 40-28 lead with 5:59 to play in the final frame.

Hilliard would momentarily silence the Saints' fans as Ayden Crews would launch a 25yd TD strike to Jacob Hoover, and after a successful 2pt try the Flashes would only be down 40-36. The Flashes would get the ball back with a great opportunity to put together a game winning drive, but Rogers would once again turn over the Flashes with his 3rd interception of the contest with 1:40 to play in the 4th. After a quick turnover on downs, the Flashes would have 1 last attempt at winning the game but Rogers would haul in his 4th interception to secure the victory for the Saints 40-36.

Rogers and Millers did everything but drive the bus to and from the game. The 2 Saints Playmakers combined for 500 all purpose yards. Rogers 4 INT 4 TD may be 1 of the best performances in the Jacksonville area on any level this season.
