The Orlando Jones Tigers (1-0) traveled north to take on the 2x defending 4A state champs Raines Vikings (0-1) in a 6pm matchup to open the season last Friday.

Earl S. Kitchen Stadium would be rocking early as many football fans in the north east Florida area came to check out Duval's marquee game.



Raines would win the coin toss, and elect to kickoff to the Tigers. 2022 QB Javion Cobb would get the start for the Tigers. On Jones' 1st possession of the game, Cobb would be sacked on first down by LB Derek Nealy, and nearly be picked off on 3rd down by Treyvon Hobbs. On 4th and long from their own 11, the Tigers would be set to punt but an errant snap out the back of the end zone would give the Vikings an early 2-0 lead, great field position just past mid field after the return.

Raines' QB Adrian Williams would convert a 4th and 3 with a 5yd run. After an incomplete pass, and a short run by Raines, Tigers' CB Delmontre Pryor would pick off a pass from Williams intended for Reggie Harden and sprint 73yds to the end zone.

Kicker Emmanuel Fleurant would bang in the extra point off the left upright and Jones would lead it 7-2 Q1

After a quick 3 and out by Raines, Avarius Sparrow would pop a 62yd TD run to give Jones the 13-2 lead after a blocked field goal attempt.

Raines would quickly go 3 and out with a shanked punt. The Tigers would capitalize as Sparrow would bust a 36yd run in which he barreled over a Raines defender at the 20 before continuing his stampede towards the end zone and a 19-2 Tigers lead with 3:22 to play in the 1st frame.




Much would be the same for Raines on their next possession as they were forced to punt it away. The Vikings punt would downed by Kareem Burke inside the 5yd. The Tigers would rush the ball for 2 minimum gains and the opening frame would come to a close with Jones leading 19-2 and facing a 3rd and long. The Jones' fanatics were in a frenzy after an impressive 1st quarter from their Tigers.

To open the 2nd quarter, Jones would be forced to punt and Raines would take over at their own 45yd line. On 3rd and 5 (2022) QB Carlton Butler would find Reggie Harden for a 23yd gain. After a near INT by Pryor on 2nd down, the big man Bryan Moore would once again get in on a sack. Treqwan Thomas would sack Butler on 4th down to hand the Tigers' offense the ball back at the 37. Thomas, Moore, and were very dominant, controlled the trenches all game, and played a huge role in the Tigers stifling Raines' offense.

On 1st down, Cobb would deliver a 32yd strike 8 to give the Tigers the ball at the 35. Reggie Harden, and Jawan Westberry would combine to sack Cobb, and Kyree Hammond would slam Cobb down for an 8yd loss to force a 3rd and long in which Cobb would find Anthony Rucker and the Tigers would have it 1st and goal from just inside the 10.

Jaden Robinson would take a handoff and spin off, and side step defenders before diving into the end zone for a score but the excellent run would be negated for illegal formation. Vikings would lay the wood on Cobb on 4th down to give Raines the ball But once again they'd be forced to punt.

On the Tigers next play, with just over 4:00 minutes remaing in the 1st half, Sparrow would bust an untouched 47yd run for a score.

Jones would lead Raines 26-2 at halftime. Sparrow would finish the contest with 12 carries for 204yds and 3 TDs.

To open to the 3rd quarter Vikings Mikih McGhee would collect the kick at the 3yd line and return it to the 45yd line. 5 plays later the Vikings would be once again putting the ball back to the Tigers. After two short runs and an incomplete pass, Jones would punt to Raines, and ATh Jarius Stewart would haul in the kick at the 49yd line and return it to the 20 to give the Vikings a great opportunity at points.

Raines would capitalize on the excellent field position as Adrian Williams tossed a 1st down screen pass to WR Jaylin Griffin who sprinted down the sideline for The Vikings 1st TD of the game. After a failed extra point kick, Jones would lead Raines 26-9 with 7:42 remaining in the 3rd frame.

3 plays from the 9yd line QB Tysan Robinson would hook up with a wide open Dacarri Allen-Johnson on a for 30yds in front of the Vikings' bench, Allen-Johnson would dash 60yds down the sideline to complete the 91yd scoring play and after a successful extra point attempt Jones would lead 33-6 with 6:00 to play in the 3rd frame. In the bottom of the 3rd Robinson would toss a 20yd TD pass to a wide open Jadan Robinson. Jones would lead Raines 40-9.

Mikih McGhee would scoop up a rolling kick off at the 10 and return it 13yds. Adrian Williams would hit McGhee on 1st down for a 8yd gain, and find Holliman for a 2yds the next play. After a misfire to Harden, Williams would hit McGhee for a 1ydyd completion and Mcghee would show all his great attributes as he broke through 3 would be tackles and raced towards the end zone where he'd crash through several more defenders to cross the goal line. The 65yd scoring play would cut into the Tigers lead 40-15 with 1:15 to play in the 3rd.

Jones would hold off Raines for the remainder of the game and the Tigers would deliver Coach Williams his 1st victory of the 2019 season on his birthday.

The Tigers will travel to Atlanta to face the Jones Creek Gladiators who took out Fairfield Central 44-6, and Raines will try and get things turned around as they travel down south to face another state power house in the Pahokee Blue Devils. The Blue Devils will be looking to get things turned around as well as they were trounced by the University school 44-7
