JV VIKINGS OVER TRINITY

Updated: Aug 29, 2018

Earl S. Kitchen Stadium-

The Raines Vikings JV squad took on the Trinity Conquerors to open their season. With Sandalwood and Ribault playing just around the corner in Thursday action many wondered why DreamKingFilmz would choose to cover a JV over Varsity.

-THE REASON

This game would feature several talented freshmen from around the Jacksonville area who have been working hard all off season, and eager do display their talents on the high school level, especially at a venue such as The Grave Yard where many great athletes have called home such as 2018 newly inducted Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins. Some players from DKF's top 50 middle school list from 2017 that would play in this game are Quincy Burroughs, Jerome Manning, Rashad Hall, Kyree Hammonds, Kareem Burke, Daniel Plummer, Xander Ross, Bryce Capers, and Runye Norton. If these players continue to put in the work they, will be some of the city's best at their position on and off the field in the 2022 class.

-THE GAME

The game would be a defensive battle as it had just as many defensive scores as did offense, 1 each both by the Vikings. Nearing halftime of a scoreless game, QB Quail Brunson would elude several tackles, rolling to his left, hurled a pass in the air in which the sure handed WR Kareem Burke who hauled it in for the 50yd catch and run and a 6-0 Raines lead. On the TC's ensuing possession the Conquerors would get picked off by Kyree Hammond who raced 80yds to the house as time expired in the 1st half. The Viks would lead it 12-0.The 2nd half would be just as the 1st with both Qbs Brunson, and Plummer having some nice drives but failed to score. Brunson had the most promising drive hooking up with Ath Mikih McGhee and Kareem Burke to get the Vikings to down to the 10yd line before DB Marcellus Swangin picked him off. The 2nd half would remain scoreless as Raines took the week 1 victory 12-0. #2 Mikih McGhee the speedster got behind the defense several times, looks possibly like he could see varsity action before season's end.
