MORE BAD WEATHER FOR THE CANES - MARCUS CROWLEY DECOMMITS FROM THE U

Updated: Nov 12, 2018

JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA -

When it rains, it pours. A term that's resonating heavy with the Miami Hurricanes' fanatics as they drop to 5-4 after losing 20-12 to the Duke Blue Devils for only the third time in school history. Coming off a promising 4-1 start to the season, and averaging 47.8 points per game during that stretch, the Canes have now dropped 3 in a row, and their offense seems to be rained out as well, averaging just 13 points during their fall. To make matters worst, the excitement of having one of the best 2019 players in the state of Florida committed to play in Coral gables was washed away a few hours prior to kickoff against Duke.

While on an official visit to Ohio State University, Duval's 3 star RB Marcus Crowley made waves across the internet and throughout the Midwest yet again as he decommitted from the U, and announced that Columbus would be his home for the next four years. After officially being offered by OSU Head Coach Urban Meyer in early October, Crowley sent the Canes' recruiting streets into a frenzy by retweeting a tweet from former teammate and current Buckeyes DB Tyreke Johnson who was showing his excitement for Marcus. With the commitment from Crowley, Urban Meyer has now landed the pick of the liter for the third consecutive year from 7x state champ Jacksonville's perennial powerhouse Trinity Christian Conquerors with Shaun Wade and Tyreke Johnson being the first two. With 2020 DB's Fred Davis and Miles Brooks being pegged as two of the best in the country, along with future 2023 phenom RB/DB Treyaun Webb, Trinity is stocked with talent if Meyer wants to continue the trend. 6'1 200 pound, Marcus Crowley is ranked as the nation's 35th best RB and becomes the 15th commit in a loaded 2019 recruiting class for the Buckeyes. Crowley and 4 star Steele Chambers (Blessed Trinity Catholic - Rosewell Ga) will be the two prized RBs for running backs coach Tony Alford, and Urban Meyer, and maybe Deondrick Glass another 4 star RB from Katy HS (Katy,Texas) who was on OSU's campus last weekend, but hasn't committed yet.

After a wonderful trip to Columbus, and witnessing the Buckeyes edge out Big10 rival Nebraska 36-31, Marcus Crowley will now focus back in with the rest of the #1 ranked Conquerors as they gear up for another state championship run vs 6-4 Suwannee Bulldogs in round one of FHSAA District 5A-4 playoffs. Last week Crowley rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns in a 52-10 victory over the Bishop Kenny Crusaders to help #1 Trinity close out the regular season 10-0. Crowley finished the regular season as North East Florida's 5th leading rusher with 1550 rush yards, and 20 rushing touchdowns on 151 carries, and he also tacked on 11 catches for 181 yards, and 3 touchdowns. With Marcus Crowley ripping up the competition, and TC's defense playing lights out look for the Conquerors to raise the Florida class 5A State Championship trophy at Camping World Stadium in December.
