RAINES VIKINGS CLOCK THE DUNNELLON TIGERS 48-0 TO RETURN TO 4A STATE TITLE GAME

NORTHSIDE JACKSONVILLE -

The 12-1 Raines Vikings advance to a 2nd consecutive 4A state title game by clocking the 8-6 Dunnellon Tigers 48-0. The Vikings will now defend their 2017 4A state title in a rematch vs the Cocoa Tigers who narrowly defeated the University School 32-31. The Vikings defeated Cocoa in last year's 4A title game 13-10 to claim their 2nd state championship in school history.

COACH WILEY WITH JACOUREY RIVERS AND BRANDON MARSHALL

Mercer commit and Vikings all-time leading rusher RB Brandon Marshall continued his reign of terror over another Florida high school defense as he logged 171yds on the night and 2 rushing TDs. Marshall's late 4th frame 22yd run put him over the 4K mark for his career. QB Jacourey Rivers was impressive in his 1st start of the year, as he helped Raines reach the title game by rushing for 123yds scoring 4 total TDs. 2 rush 2 Pass.

The Vikings defense led by Iowa St. Commit Aric Horne, Jannoris Robertson Jaren Wilson, James Hall and Javon Bonsell all played lights as they dominated Dunnellon the entire game. DB James Tarver forced a fumble, and DB Treyvon Hobbs picked off a 4th quarter pass to help the Vikings pitch the shutout. The Tigers' offense would be held to 0 1st downs in the first 2 frames, and would fail to reach midfield until the 3rd period.

Jacourey Rivers got the Vikings on the board 1st by connecting on a 17yd pass to Daivarus Thomas. Rivers cashed in on a James Tarver forced fumble with a 3yd run to give the Vikings a 14-0 lead late in the 1st frame. Brandon Marshall's 30yd TD run would give the Viks a 20-0 2nd quarter lead, then Marshall would later bull over a defender at the goal line to give the Vikings a 27-0 lead. Treyvon Hobbs would pick off the Tigers and return it to the 23yd line to set up Rivers 3rd score of the game, a short TD run. Raines would lead it 34-0 at halftime. Rivers 45yd TD strike to Matt Drayton in the 3rd quarter and Barron Coates' short TD run in the 4th quarter would end all scoring.
