TOP 15 POLLS AND PICKS WEEK 8 H.S.

Updated: Oct 24, 2018

BRANDON MARSHALL 200YDS 2 TOTAL TDS VS SANDALWOOD

MIAMI COMMIT MARCUS CROWLEY 18/294 2TDS. VATECH COMMIT KESHAWN KING 23 192 2TDS

The Trinity Conquerors continued to dominate the local competition, and remain #1 by stepping down on the Oakleaf Knights 51-22. With Trinity being the heavy favorite to win, many fans purchased a ticket to see future ACC commits Keshawn King, and Marcus Crowley display their talents as they came into the contest the area's rushing leaders. King 906yds 17TDs and Crowley 870yds 12TDs. The Miami and VaTech commits were very impressive and worth the price of admission combining for 486 rushing yards and 4 TDs. QB Walt Tre Simmons and the Knights would come into the contest with the area's best offense totaling 4455, to battle Trinity's 7th ranked defense. On paper this contest had all the makings of a great back and forth game but by halftime it would be out of reach.

Keshawn King would get the Knights on the score board 1st with a 24yd touchdown run and give 1 of the best student sections in the area a reason to get even louder as he ran in the 2pt conversion to take a 8-0 Q1 lead.

Under recruited and over looked Qb Jacory Jordan is quietly putting together a great season for the Conquerors and would be up for the challenge of dueling it out with 1 of the best QBs in the area Tre Simmons. On the Conqueror's ensuing drive after the King TD run, Jordan would hook up with TimesUnion Super 11 WR Isaiah Washington on a 78yd bomb to pull TC within 1. TC's 2021 standout RB/DB Kaleb Killian turned heads with recruiters as he dashed 36yds for the go ahead score and Marcus Crowley's 71yd TD run at the bottom of the 1st would leave DuvalCityFootball members asking can any local team defeat Trinity. The overwhelming majority of everyone who answered said NO.

To start the 2nd period Jacory Jordan would toss a 64yd TD to Isaiah Washington to take a 28-7 lead. With the Knights needing a score badly Simmons would step to the plate and deliver a 27yd strike to Terrance Anthony to momentarily silence the lit TC fans. Another 40yd TD toss from Jordan to Washington, and a 62yd TD run my Crowley would give TC an insurmountable lead of 42-15 at the half. A 1yd 2nd half TD run by Keshawn King and Jordan's 4th TD toss of the game to Malik Myers would give the game a final score of 51-22. The Stellar performance by the 2 ACC commits kept them atop the rushing leader list for week 8. Crowley sits at #1 with 114 carries for 1164yds and 14 rushing TDs. TC will take on the ailing Westside Wolverines this Friday so look for Crowley to remain ahead of the pack. After slowing down 2 consecutive high powered offenses, 1 would have to ask the question does TC have the best defense in the area?

Keshawn Kings sits at #2 on the area's rushing leader list with 108 carries for 1098yds and 19 rushing TDs. The Knights will take on the mighty Raines Vikings who's coming off a 20-14 win over the Sandalwood Saints. RB Brandon Marshall became the alltime rushing leader of the Vikings breaking Dejuan's Green record of 2938. Marshall's 200yd and 2TD performance was key for the Vikings in the close victory. QB Barron Coates continues to play solid with another multiple touchdown outing tossing a 6yd td pass to Marshall and the late 3rd quarter 57yd TD toss to the speedster Daivarus Thomas which put the Vikings ahead. In the absence of Iowa St. Commit and TimesUnion 11 LB Aric Horne another lights out performance by the Viking's defense would be needed for Raines to ultimately walk away with the victory. DL's Janorris Robertson, and James Hall, LB Javon Bonsell and DBs Uriah Ratliff, Trevon Hobbs, James Tarver, and Ravean Tribune put the clamps on Jeff Sims and the Saints high powered offense outside of a Kyjuan Herndon 45yd catch and run for a touchdown, and a 4th and goal 2yd TD run by Antonio Clary which was set up by an 80yd kick return from Herndon following the short Marshall TD catch. Coates touchdown toss to Thomas in the 2nd half would prove to be the difference as the Vikings defense held the Saints scoreless for the remainder of the game.

With this loss the Saints are now in a must win situation Friday vs Mandarin if they want to keep their 8A playoff hopes alive which they currently are on the outside looking in.
